Fire Brigade visit Cleveland Junior

Today the fire-fighters from the Ilford fire brigade visited Cleveland Junior school. They came to talk to us about making hoax calls and how dangerous they can be. If you do make a hoax you can put millions of people in danger. People can die just because you make a hoax’s call. This is because if they came to our school to fight an invisible fire they would not have enough firemen to fight a real one at someone's house. Now would you make hoax’s call think of it this way if it is your house it will burnt. Please be careful of the fire alarms in school, please dont break them and set them off.

Children In Need Collection

In Cleveland Junior School this Friday morning, Miss Prosser and other teachers will be in the playground with a bucket to collect coppers. Please remember to bring your money on Friday morning So please try to bring copper money. This money will be going to children in need. If you are going to wear spots bring 50p please. Miss Prosser is also holding a competition to find the best dressed person in Year 3&4 and Year 5&6 who is wearing spots. Also please have a look at the rest of the blog for Children in Need games and word seraches made by the blog teams.

People who joined children in need have raised more than £400 million Pounds in the UK. There are people who are really poor and they need loads of money so they afford schools so they have more education and more food.

1) Where spotty clothes
2) Bring some money for the bake sale (if you want to and how much money you want to spend)
3) Bring 50p for the clothes (only if your wearing none school uniform)

Anti-Bullying Week

This week is anti-bullying week and we have already had an assembly about it taken by Miss Prosser. Most of the year 6 children would have seen the video about Michelle .At 8 years old she was at a Halloween party and suddenly her costume caught on fire. The video explained that just because you have a few scars on your face and you look different it doesn’t matter and we shouldn’t judge. In Gods eyes were all the same and one day we will all have perfect wings .Be extra nice this week! Children in Need Bake Sale

On the 18th of November we are going to have a bake sale for children in need . The bake sale will take place in the play ground at break time and home time. They will be a selling milk shake such as chocolate, vanilla and strawberry also cookies and cupcakes. Please make sure that you don’t bring no money less than £1.00 or less they will not take change . We hope you have fun.

Remembrance Day

Remembrance Sunday is held on the second Sunday in November, the Sunday nearest to 11 November which is the anniversary of the end of the First World War at 11 a.m. in 1918

This Friday there will be 2 minutes silence in the school, not just our school but schools all over Britain. There will be an assembly at 11:00am and we will be silent for 2 minutes.

You might have noticed that poppy’s {red and black} are being sold in the playground in the morning mostly by Ahmed A. and Shahzad, both in class: 16. They are only 10p so please ask your parents if you can buy one.

Victory for Cleveland Junior girls football team

On the 1st of November there was a football match in which Cleveland girls football team played against Highland’s girl’s football team. We were given a kind lift from Mr Smith and Mr Duckett to the football pitch at Highlands. Our captain was year 6 girl called Abbie. The final score was 1-4 to Cleveland, two goals were from our captain Abbie. Then Zainab and Kayal from class 10 scored the other two goals. This led us to our first victory for Cleveland girl’s football team.

On the 6-10-11 there is going to be a harvest assembly. The assembly is going to take place in the lower hall and upper hall. Two people from every class in the school so 16 people will take part in it one girl and one boy from each class. Will be taking videos of the assembly so you watch it again over the weekend.

Cleveland junior school is having a non-uniform day on Friday 7^thOctober.

If we come with no uniform we must bring 50p for a donation to seeds for Africa also there will be a harvest assembly on Thursday 6^th October.

Seeds for Africa helps African families and communities by the provision of seeds, agricultural equipment and relevant technical advice, giving individuals and communities a future, not just a temporary answer. Some countries aren't like us So please bring 50p on Friday

The Extreme Six (Year 6 Blog Team)

Sports Day 2011

Its that time of year again where the Houses of Cleveland compete against each other for the Sports Day shield. Branson (Red), Holmes (green), Windsor (Blue), Jay Sean (Purple) and Rowling (Yellow) all competed in 7 different events from sprints to tug of war. Thankfully the weather held out and am sure pupils, teachers and parents all enjoyed the morning.

There are 120 photos from the year 5 and 6 event today in the Fronter room. Login into Fronter and go to the School Events page, click on the resources button and then the Sports Day folder to view them all.

The Royal Wedding!

What an amazing day Friday April 29th was! The Royal wedding was fantastic and everyone at Cleveland Junior school was exceptionally excited. This was seen through flag waving, bunting making, mug painting and sandwich eating to name just a few.... Here are Year 3 preparing for the big day.

Last week class 3 made healthy sandwiches as part of their design and technology project. Selecteing the ingredients themselves, each child made a tasty snack - which they got to eat at their Royal Wedding Tea Party!

It's nearly time for the Easter holidays and today Year 4 helped remind us why Christians celebrate it. Their assembly was great and had some excellent props as well! Well done to everyone involved.

Netball Win!

Congratulations to Miss Prosser and the netball team, who travelled to Uphall school yesterday and won 9-0! This was the team's first ever game, so to win by such a big margin is brilliant. It just goes to show what hard work and practice can achieve.

Class 3 have been joined by some new faces this week in the form of 10 chicken eggs. Currently 6 of these eggs have hatched and in Miss Sheptua's own words "they are bright yellow, cute and fluffy!"

Saturday Morning at Fairlop Waters

This Saturday morning, 30 of our School Councilors and House Captains were out and about at Fairlop Waters, learning how to row and sail. Everyone got to have a go on boats of different shapes and sizes and everyone had a fantastic time - even if it did mean getting a bit wet!

Red Nose Day 2011

Cleveland and the Olympics

On Wednesday night at Valentine's Mansion a handful of lucky children got to meet Great British Long Jumper JJ Legede. JJ is hoping to make the 2012 Olympics and we think he will, he can jump nearly 8 metres after all! Hopefully he will be coming to our school soon.

After School Science Fun!

On Wednesday Ms Bowden hosted our school's first pupils and parents after school Science Quiz. You can see by the picture that it was really well attended and eveyone had lots of fun, while learning lots about Science. Well done to Ms Bowden for organising it and everyone who took part.

500 days to go!

Yesterday Class 2 visited the Town Hall in Redbridge to help celebrate the fact that there are only 500 days to go until the Olympic Games come to London! The children had a great time and are all very excited about the Olympics coming to our city!
